Steve,

A "W" pattern, doesn't have an "specific" meaning,that I am aware of.

In looking at KOSN,like at any other, what is important, at least IMHO, is to look at the "trend" not only on the daily, but also on the weekly & monthly charts. (I also look at the intraday 30, 15, 10, 5 & 1 minutes.) And also look at the fundies, that is: R,I,CF,BV,Insd position, InstHolds, ShrtPost, AvailabEstimats, etc.

In KOSN case if you look at its weekly & monthly charts, you should notice that the stock has remained on a DT & at the attempted rallies on Apr 2004; Aug 2005; Jan & Sep 2007 the Hs were lower than previous.

KOSN shrs Hs at attempted rallies so far this Yr.were also lower:
Apr 6.58; May 6.49; Jun 6.49; Sep 6.40; Oct 6.29; Dec 5.89

KOSN started the Yr. with a good 1st Q, it reported Revs of 12.9M vs. 3M in 2006 & income was on the black at $0.07/shr vs. loss of $0.36 in 2006. But on the 2nd & 3rd Qs the revs have been lower & the losses highers > in 2006 & the EL for 2008 is now around $1.20/shr vs. the EL of $0.80/shr for 2007 & the loss of $0.88/shr in 2006

On Saturday it reported data from a dose-escalating P1b of Hsp90 inhibitor KOS-953 in combination with Velcade, which showed durable antitumor activity and tolerability in patients with MM but it said among other things:

"The data from this ongoing trial are still being evaluated, and multiple patients remain on study. At this time, the overall response rate appears to be lower than previously reported. We are investigating whether there were patient characteristics that may have contributed to this lower response rate, including the possibility that patients added to the study since the data were last reported represented a more advanced and heavily pretreated population.

Today the stock opened with a DG & traded down from $5.49 to $5.43 in the first 5 minutes. The intraday DT accelerated after 9:35AM & it is closing near its intraday L, where it may find some support (you may recall that the Sep 2006 L was 2.93 & the H 3.50 )
