Actually, a policy of standing aside while the Shia and Sunni regional power blocs exhaust themselves in futile (& exceedingly EXPENSIVE) conflicts would likely produce *EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE RESULTS* for all three of the things you worry about above!

(In fact: it's our misbegotten and illogical current policy that is bringing those three possibilities ever closer to fruition.)

Just look back to the LAST time there was major war between SUNNI Arabs and SHIA Persians (the nearly decade-long Iran-Iraq Gulf War of the 1980s): the world price of oil COLLAPSED to new post-WW II inflation-adjusted lows as both sides had to pump full-out to try to pay for the war --- and yet still practically destroyed their economies and brought both regimes near to collapse!
