it's a common misperception that the thread represents the Center. It's a place for people who dislike the extremism and personal attacks on the many RW or LW threads that abound. It does not mean that the views of every participant are going to reflect some middle ground all the time, but you will find that the discussion of positions is rational, intelligent and polite. It is one of the rare places that people actually listen and consider the other side. I was trying to think how to express that notion and you did it perfectly. If this were just a mouthpiece for centrist positions it would get boring. But only by shutting out the aggressive extremists can we have a civilized dialogue with who is left. It's not for everybody.
