Maybe he changed his mind? Sigh. So even the good candidates are all smoke and mirrors. What happened to the Jeffersons or Lincolns? We're lead by morons now.

Its good......we are being given plenty of time to flush out who these people are. There is no obvious Karl Rove pulling the wool over our eyes. I don't know whose idea it was to the start the presidential race in early 2007 but I think its a good one.

Lincoln the guy that started US imperialism. Invaded a foreign country that never attacked him.

I think if you look in the history of any 'professional' politician, you are going to find some questionable stuff. If you are anti-Iraq war, you'll see the guys who voted for the authorization. But if you put it in the timeframe and the political pressure of post-9/11, these guys almost couldn't do anything else. Remember Bush had record high approval ratings. How many times do you think these guys "vote their conscience"? My guess is almost never... they vote along party lines or for the industry that contributes the most or what is going to get them reelected (they think at the time). Very calculated --- with what they truly believe last on the check list.

It would be great if we could get back to what I think 'The Framers' anticipated... 'citizen' (not professional) politicians. Maybe term limits on one term for all public offices would do it (in conjunction with publicly financed campaigns to keep the special interests from dominating). But you won't get that legislation passed by the 'professionals'.
