The point is not about speed of internet connections. Even on a slow connection it's faster to do something over the internet than to do it physically.

In Africa, they use a simple principle when dad goes to market. If he buys something that needs big transport, he calls home via his mobile phone, and lets it ring two times. If not, he lets it ring one time. This way, they know if they should pick him up with a big or small vehicle.

This is a simple example of how IT saves time. However, I still use an old fashioned phone and call a human when I need an appointment at the doctor, and hospitals still use truckloads of paper, and 25% of the time, that somebody needs to know the medication of a patient in an intensive care unit, they cannot find the necessary information.

When I see how people work, it's amazing how much time can be saved in the future, by using yesterday's technology.
