FF, i pretty much agree with your post, except i take some issue with your last point.

first off, you make it sound like *all* of the money is forced away from the person at death.

NOT TRUE.

second, someone has to pay for the taxes. i'd prefer it to be dead folks than bankrupting our grand children before they are born. i know - we are doing both now.

i realize your view on government and it has the same fundamental flaw that makes it a total nonstarter - it doesn't factor in the human condition of greed and selfishness.

nobody is going to run a lean government b/c they gain POWER by increasing the size of government.

almost no-one can say no to POWER for very long. this is why communism *can't* work - it is impossible for everyone to own everything b/c whoever is in power will focus all their energy on maintaining power, all under the lie of "government for the people."

the republicans use similar tactics - proclaiming the virtues of small government while not in power, but GROWING GOVERNMENT when in POWER.

i don't have any issue at all with you disagreeing with warren, me or anyone else. my main issue was that you called warren inconsistent when he wasn't. he is very consistent to main paradigm - that the wealthy owe their wealth, in large part, to society and they should give back to society - either willingly or by rule of law.

i think we'd all three agree that government is pretty pathetic when it comes to managing anything - due to the inherent greed at every single layer of government. that's why warren chose to give it to charity.

as for all the uber rich folks just working to make all americans better... i'll answer that as soon as i can the visions of paris hilton, oj simpson and britney spears out of my head. ;-)

i also have to laugh a bit about your reference to the uber rich just wanting "higher quality" while all the super duper execs send their toys to china only to be painted with lead based paint.

if that is their version of "higher quality," please tell them to lower the bar a bit. ;-)

oh, and all those programming jobs that flowed out of the united states... did they do that to improve quality, too? ;-)

it seems to me that the quality level of furniture is about half what it used to be - and i think i'me being generous here. if all these folks want improved quality, why are they failing so badly?
