A candidate's meanness or affability is critically important in a general election.

The more likable candidate has won since 1980:
Reagan over Carter
Reagan over Mondale
Bush over Dukakis
Clinton over Bush
W over Gore
W over Kerry

Hillary will not be able to hide her true personality from the public in a general election battle against the more personally likable republicans. Huckabee and Mitt seem the most likable of the top 5 republicans to me.

In the primaries, issues and trust count more than basic likability. Although Obama's likability is putting him in position to pull an upset.

The polls don't show that Hil will cheat, even at the ballot box.
