"sn't that handy - no one can know the truth for themselves." That's not what I said. Anyone who opens their heart to God and seek him with all their hearts will "know the truth". That truth is Jesus is the source of life, forgiveness of sins and eternal joy. Even that truth comes from the Apostolic leaders and their successors. That truth is also written in the New Testament diaries and is explained by the Church leaders. But when it comes to understanding and theological issues, the Church leaders under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit are the final word. Otherwise, we would all be like the thousand of Protestant denomination where each Church has a Pope of their own trying to decide theological doctrines and meanings. The theology of Protestantism is the theology of each person privately interpreting the bible for themselves. Jesus establish Apostolic leaders and gave them authority over the Church and the interpretations of scripture.
