Obama's natural base doesn't exist in Iowa or New Hampshire. That is minorities, non-whites. Not to say a lot of whites don't like him, but that is a very real issue.

My mother is from southern Illinois which is very similar to Iowa. I know those people. On the Dem side they are nice honest people whoi might cheer Obama, but they are almost all white. And in the end, can you really expect them to vote for a non-white candidate if they have an equally good one in Edwards? Besides, Iowa DEms are smart and will always go for the one who can best beat the GOP. All the polls say that is Edwards. And that is also why I believe Hillary is finished.

I think Iowa will give Edwards a slim victory, knock out Hillary then depending on who the Kennedy machine gets behind, he will win New Hampshire, then South Carolina will be another draw, and so will Michigan. I think you will have a two man race, Edwards vs. Obama and in the end the man who polls the best against the GOP will take it. So unless Obama can change those poll numbers against GOP candidates he will slide into second place.
