You do know that it was his ideas on toleration of different religions and their relationship to the state led to our separation of church and state? Yes and he did so for religious reasons. He didn't argue for the abolishment of religion from public sight and the establishment of secularism, however. We are far beyond the toleration of opinion that he advocated. What - do you think conservatives are advocating theocracy or something? That is just liberal propaganda.
