Why?

Whether a person should be able to defend his own stuff with deadly force could be argued, but if you assume the affirmative than it would make sense that he can also defend his neighbors stuff.

How far does this "right" extend? Can an armed citizen render "justice" against wrongdoers whereever it is seen?

Defending "your stuff" (or "your neighbor's stuff") and seeking out and imposing punishment on people who took it are two different things.
