That and the CPI was very high. Looks like the good old days of stagflation if there is a recession... and that's what the smart money has been betting on.

Also, think of all the credit card debt. If things start breaking bad and people start defaulting on their CC payments, then the banks are in a heap more trouble. With the dollar tanking on bad debt and so much of our consumption from imports, then inflation is assured.

Things are getting very dicey and I don't see anyone riding in on a white horse to save the day...

I used to marvel at what my parents had paid for their first house and the incredibly low interest rate, thinking, damn!, I could buy a house if it was like THAT. Of course, they were making less money then than I was as a rookie worker.

We got the incredibly low interest rates for a while, but not the incredibly low wages and house prices. Maybe now, all THREE will return!
