Greenspan's pronouncements about the economy are for Bernanke's ears."

Greenie could EASILY deliver his advice DIRECTLY to Bernanke's ears.

True but don't you think he's already tried to reach Bernanke and gotten no response?

I think Greenie is just trying to polish his image for posterity. If we go into recession or even depression, the serial bubble-man Greenie wants to make it Ben's fault, not his.

True but he's smart enough to know that a couple of press releases won't do the job. Greenspan's place in history has been established......he did better than average in a thankless and difficult job.

Greenie could have (and should have) killed the housing bubble before it began, and we wouldn't be where we are today.

I disagree.....no one told mortgage brokers to break the law when making housing loans. And they didn't break the law en masse so long as good loans were there to be made. Its only in the last two years, they really began to break the rules. Greed is an ugly thing.
