Science shows fallacy of global warming hysteria By ANDRES PICO With the recent joint award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Al Gore, the global warming hysterics have risen to a new, fever-pitch level. When a few editorials dare to raise a question on the so-called consensus the denunciations reach new levels of nonsense and balderdash in a blatant and immoral attempt to suppress dissent. In science, correlation is not causation. Sunspot records, measuring both the number of sunspots and cycle length, do correlate with climate fluctuations on Earth. Correlation does support the validation of theories and the failure of correlation, as in CO2 and temperature records, does serve to invalidate a hypothesis. The recent work on cosmic rays triggering cloud formation is just one example of a hypothesis which is still being developed and the theory does potentially explain almost all of the climate shifts being debated. When looking over longer periods of time, such as several thousand years, the rise in CO2 always lags warming trends by several hundred years rather than leading warming trends as it must if CO2 is the cause of warming rather than rising CO2 actually being the result of warming, which it is. What is absolutely true is that actual observational data trumps theoretical projections based on phony computer Algorithms, fabricated data, and cherrypicked, incomplete station data — all of which the Goddard Institute, Gore, the IPCC and other global warming hysterics have been caught doing (McKitrick, McIntrye, Wegman et al). None of the climate models being used to predict climate changes takes into account clouds or precipitation with any degree of accuracy. None of the models can accurately replicate current conditions without being manually manipulated, which invalidates their accuracy for future projections. Looking at numerous climate monitoring institutions around the world we are, in fact, in a period of declining temperatures correlating to the sunspot cycle and in direct contradiction to the CO2 theory. Consider that even as the Arctic ice volume reached “historic” lows (with records only going back a few decades) the Antarctic ice volume reached a historic maximum so that the total polar ice volume was only slightly lower than normal and still well within statistical norms. The southern hemisphere has just finished a record cold winter while the northern hemisphere has had a mild and wet summer. Even the discredited Dr. James Hansen’s Goddard Institute is showing declining global sea-land temperatures for almost every month this year. Only the dreaded summer warming of August bucked the downward trend which has continued month after month. Hansen, it will be remembered, had to adjust his records after being caught manipulating temperature records which resulted in this decade’s temperature rise being reduced by .15 of a degree, which we are supposed to accept as being “insignificant,” leaving a residual decadal warming of only .13 of a degree, which are supposed to accept as being “significant.” Satellite based measurements of the atmosphere show a consistent cooling from last year of .15 of a degree through most of the atmosphere. If you are tracking the numbers this indicates a global cooling in just this year which is more than the warming over the decade. And in fact, looking at the Goddard Institute monthly summary numbers the globe has cooled to the same temperature as it was in 1997, with the trend clearly headed down. Global warming hysteria is hijacked science in support of a phony political agenda that has nothing to do with climate change, and everything to do with establishing an international governing body of unelected officials who will be handed immense control over business and personal affairs. This political regime will result in higher prices for fuel, energy, food, taxes and everything that has to be produced and shipped. The risky scheme of phony carbon-credit trading is a global financial swindle that invests in a completely unregulated market of “off-sets” with no assurance that investments are actually being applied as advertised. This fraud and swindle must be exposed and defeated at the polls.
