SIVAM cost $1.4 billion. There's a cost associated with any public good. If you benefit from such public good you need to contibute to the payment to enjoy said public good.

As long as we are the ones bearing the costs we are the ones who have a say.

You are reminding me of the Club fo Rome of the 60's.
