The link is no longer valid so not sure exactly which coins you were referencing...

However personally, I just look for gold content... and something recognized, no assay needed.

Some of the unusual things I found include Swiss 20 franc (very pretty), and American Arts gold commemorative medallions...

If you look for stuff a little out of the mainstream you can avoid paying a premium over spot... this is especially good when dealing with smaller coins, where premium tends to be higher.

This methodology could bite later, depending on the dealer you will eventually sell to... and the market at the time.
