The figures are adjusted for inflation.

As for changing definitions increasing what's called manufacturing, nope you have it backwards. In the past a manufacturing company would be more likely to hire employees to clean the plant and do similar work. No they are more likely to outsource. That money is now counted towards the service industry rather than as manufacturing.
