Only issue I take is the Philippines. We have been training people there forever. History proves the deliberate Special Forces way is the least costly and the most effective method of counter insurgency. Results should be the metric and 97+% of Filipinos live free today. If you wish to evaluate cost too, all our years helping the Philippines remain free have not cost a weeks worth of Iraq. And as you point out, we have no better friends. I still remember when most cooks on USNAV ships were Filipinos.
