M,
"Chinese" is significant and especially "woman" Chinese

Funny that, but appears to be the same here in Canada (Toronto specifically) where we have a very large (relatively) Chinese population, maybe 1/30th of the whole nation wide but especially concentrated in Toronto and Vancouver. They are to avoided whenever possible..

OTOH.. The drivers in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chongching, Xian... pick one were amazing in skill, focus and overall calmness. A typical North American motorist would be left crying in fear on the curbside IMHO..

The Black Swan

People need to learn physics and then be taught how to drive. I told Experiment that I will teach her how to drive a car. I would then send her to a driving school.

If you donlt know phsyics is akin to not knowing economics, which should be taught at first grade level.

Chinese women drivers. Worldwide problem. And the problem has nothing to do with them "just learning to drive". At least not in the USA. Here, Chinese women have been driving for years. Doesn't matter. They are all Agents Of Death On Wheels. Especially if they're yacking on a cellphone.

Why this is so I can not say. But it is true.

Btw - in the wealthy parts of Silicon Valley at least - the "class envy" of hating SUVs is reversed. People with real money here avoid SUVs - it is considered somewhat downwardly mobile to own them. Very much the car for the working class.

I divide SUVs into categories (I am a splitter, not a lumper).

The original purpose of an SUV is a vehicle which handles rough terrain, including ice and snow on highways. I approve of this use.

Women like SUVs because women tend to be short and in an SUV they are "tall" and can see more. I approve of this use.

Some people use SUVs rather than pickup trucks because they convey materiel which must be protected from the weather, and a van won't do. I approve of this use.

Many SUVs are just pieces of crap, designed for ego enhancement at the expense of reason. I do not approve of this use.

Asian drivers are legendary. Around here the criminal bar association members call it "DWO", Driving While Oriental (pun on DWI, Driving While Intoxicated).

Hispanics have their own bigoted buzzphrase for convening at the local convenience parking lot and flagrantly consuming mucho cervesas. This is called "Hispanic in Public" (pun on Drunk In Public).
