If you read history, both sides wanted the war. Some of the early battles were treated almost as a spectator sport, with people taking picnic stuff and trying to get close.

Of course, that changed later.

What is interesting, though, it that is precisely the neocon mindset. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that are betting pools as to when we will attack Iran and how long to take Tehran.
