All a pol has to do is promise them he'll cut spending and cut taxes and he OWNS the (R)'s. Then, they cut taxes but NEVER cut spending (which is much harder) and run up tremendous deficits adding to the debt. If you want to see pols that have political courage, look to the one's who've RAISED taxes.

I think the only way to keep them all honest is a balanced budget amendment, which is just PAYGO on steroids.
