Whatever the dominions are sending, it isn't enough. The Queen has even had to start opening Buckingham Palace to the public just to pay the maintenance bills.

I have no idea how much NZ state serf chattels send to Queen Elizabeth II each year. I don't think it's very much and I dare say cheaper than employing a president and there is something nice about a constitutional monarch, born to rule. Which is different from my thinking of my early decades.

There is something obscene and dangerous about ephemeral politicians scrabbling for power, baubles, babes and bounty.
