2017: 10 years out I meant. The literature guys had better start writing to get the thing documented.

We leave in a world of lean accounting firms with the accountant, now called CFO, holds the grip of how money is spent with an iron grip.

He's milking the last cent of everything. He's not throwing money at any new thing. Under this perspective, you have to agree that no one is doing any revolution in any lab right now.

The accountant has climbed the saddle and is riding the world economy.

An illustration –a real case- of how finance has absolute power above anything:

“The CFO position had been vacant since May 15, 2007, when former CFO Dennis O'Neill fell ill and current CEO John Mazzuto was appointed interim CFO. As CFO, Yepes will be responsible for improving Industrial Enterprises' corporate governance and financial transparency while focusing on bottom line results. He will lead the finance department out of the company's Creighton, PA facilities and will be in charge of accounting and reporting, strategic planning and analysis, treasury, tax, audit, and investor relations”

In short: he’ll run the company like Peter “The Great”. An absolute autocrat.
