In regards to Food there is a veritable bargain on beef right now at Dominicks (Safeway).

Standing rib roast $4.88
London Broil $1.59
Ground Beef $.99

Typically they have one of those on sale not all of them at once.
I cannot recall the last time I got ground beef under a dollar.

I blew the coupon basket.
Needed an override.
The Dominicks card calls those specials (good only for fresh card holders - but the card is free) "coupons".

I hit $168 in "coupons". That required a supervisor override to approve.

I do not believe that anyone who buys food on a regular basic would doubt that food is up substantially over the last year. Sure you can always find someone who will remark that xx store is having a 2 for 1 or whatever kind of sale and therefore food is down, however bottom line it is not.

Additionally, anyone who owns there own business and buys health insurance knows and feels the price increases.

Energy - no argument there

Housing - Well the record runup in prices never was counted as inflation so how can anyone count it going the other way as deflation - unless they are trying desperately to prove a point.

Bottom line is: food, energy, medical, insurance, school tuition (college etc) are all up. Basically all that is required to live is up. When these go down then I will give the deflationists there kudo's, until then, they are just wrong (imo)

Heck even price of movie tickets just went higher.
