It is a recognition that the money is better spent when the money is left in the hands that earned it.

Which of course isn't always the case.

"They represent government putting less of a drag on the free market."

In what way?

"It is a recognition that the money is better spent when the money is left in the hands that earned it."

Hmm, ok. We are getting in the realm of religion now.

"Standard tactic when you can't argue your point, but resort to strawmen and ad hominem attacks. "

I've been arguing my point.

You have been throwing up the straw men, not I. Here is an example. You think all that matters is that money gets circulated, especially from who you think will just hoard it to who you think really need it. Now, where did I say anything about taking from hoaders and giving to people who need it? As far as the circulation of money, well, that is what economics is all about. Now if you want to delve into the religious aspects of it, i.e. free market vs. Marxism for example. That is ok. But it has little to do with actual economics.

While it might have been an ad hom, it does reflect my puzzlement as to the way you are arguing. Because you are mixing apples and oranges here. We don't have a state run economy, far from it. Instead of setting prices and dictating what gets produced, the government pays salaries and lets out contracts. Which has nothing to do with being state run. You are, again, taking standard terminology and filtering it through your own perspective and making up new definitions. While that might wow them in the OC, those that are reality based have a lot of problems with that approach. I, for one, am not willing to chuck out current dictionaries and standard works to replace with with stuff that is strictly faith based.

Look, even David Frum has wised up. When he starts complaining that the conservatives have valued ideology over expertise too much, you need to sit up and listen...
