It's always unclear to me what "populist" means in practice; I always have an image of a firebrand speaking to a crowd at a demonstration of some sort, weighing in for the little guy against the evil company bosses or some such. Picket lines are a more mundane form of the same thing.

What other pressures would "populism" bring to bear on the drug companies? Bear in mind that the odds of the Dems being able to break a Senate fillibuster in 2009 will still be slim, and the drug lobbyists know that.
