The key area that causes them to break down is lack of reporting responsibility.

Indeed, but oversight's not directly a function of profit. There are other oversight paradigms.

That is precisely the reason they do not want government to regulate their activities. With a weak government, they can be even more corrupt without being discovered.

You don't want government to do everything, but you need government to do some things. That concept is much too difficult for most people to understand.

It is much easier to believe in foolishness:

No government is a good government.
No regulation is a good regulation.
No taxes are any good.
Yada, yada, yada
