Oh come off it..ya think the U.S. is the only country doing medical research? That's a straw man. He didn't claim that research is only done in the US, he said the US market provides profit motivation for research and development of drugs. That profit, and thus the motivation, and thus the research, can be and often is done by none American corporations. Then there is research paid for by governments who don't need to worry about profit (they can just grab the money from tax revenue), but it doesn't usually develop fully usable drugs and is even less likely to pay for the cost of testing and regulatory compliance needed to bring a new drug to market.
