LIAR. The people McCarthy ruined were in most cases totally innocent patriotic liberal-minded people. He was basically labelling FDR's New Dasl "communism" for his own extremist rightwing purposes, and he wanted them all put away. Like the Nazis and Soviets did. He targeted tens of thousands, even the most American of composers Aaron Copland, and our greatest folksingers Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Only one or two of his targets actually did anything wrong. We all agree on punishing enemy spies. That isn't the issue. McCarthy was targeting the entire liberal arts and worker's rights side of the USA, everyone, starting with the prominent people in the arts. And he had Hoover behind him. Apparently you are now aware of the Hollywood blacklistings. Or if you are, you support that. That would be like only allowing Chuck Norris to star in movies today. Or only pro Iraq War movies to be made. Same deal. Just despicable and un-American.
