Vietnam for the US = Afghanistan for the Soviets = Iraq for the US = India for Alexander the Great = etc. etc. Any imperial power that tries to occupy a country which is very foreign to them and far away will eventually be driven out. That is a lesson of history. And if you add to that total corruption like in Vietnam and Iraq, the lesson should be even more heeded to.

I also fear for what we're doing in Afghanistan. What we need is more of the world community with us. But Bushies rejected the UN from day one and demonized it. All so their big oil company pals could get the fields. And boy has that backfired. Except of course they did manage to triple the price of oil, so I guess they're relatively happy.
