OT What do you want me to develop? A simple, reasonably valid argument. I could do it for you, but than I run the risk of attacking a straw man rather than your real point. Guys like Schwarzman basically make billions and pay 15% on it. Assuming it all treated as capital gains taxes, that might be accurate but its just a fact. It doesn't make any point. Maybe your point is that there is something wrong with not paying more than 15% income tax, or with the government not charging more than that, or maybe its not the rate, but the fact that people who make less money than that pay a higher rate than that. Maybe your real point is something that I haven't even thought of. Also see Message 24017868 I thought I was pretty clear when I said 'they should pay even more' - no??? You said the rich should pay more. You didn't say why. You didn't say whether you meant they should pay more than 15%, or more than what the average rich person pays today (which is a lot more than 15%). You didn't say whether this is because there is something wrong about paying 15% (or what the average rich person pays today if that was your point), or if the issue is not the tax rate but the unfairness in some rich people paying less than some non rich people. Or perhaps there is some other issue you have in mind. Your conclusion was "they should pay even more", but you didn't detail what you mean by your conclusion, and you didn't provide an argument for your conclusion. Or is your argument really? Premise 1 - One specific named individual may pay as little as 15% income tax on a large portion of his income... Premise 2 - <There is no premise 2> Therefore Conclusion - Rich people in general in the US should have their tax bill increased. Can't you see the problems with that argument?
