It is not amazing. It is the set of circumstances that inexorably drives homo oeconomicus. Therefore to "go from rags to glory to rags in just a few generations" is the natural order of things.

The Anglo world went "from rags to glory to rags in just a few generations" and forgot how they've got there. I am not against Anglos, mind you, I am just using them to prove my theory that the set of circumstances is what drives the world.

You can complain as much as you can about distributive countries such us NZ. Now it is too late. The seed was planted long time. Germinated. Grew to a strong tree now you need a huge effort to topple it.

You see the problem. The majority of the population don't. Therefore they have to learn the hard way. You are seeing the enemy. And the enemy is you.

Worse. We know it and we will do everything to take advantage of that status quo for our own benefit for we are homo oeconomcus. A specie driven by incentive, accummulation and creative destruction. Not because we are Jihadists. It is just is the natural way of we humans.
