"Didn't oil almost reach 100" Yes, but they made the call in the summer of 2006, just months before removing gasoline from commodities index, which caused a couple of hedge fund blow ups and caused oil to plunge from 70 to 60 and contributed to further drop to 50 later on ( warm winter was another factor in the final drop to 50 ) Of course GS made a killing, first on inside knowledge of index modification and then by trading against collapsing hedge funds.
