Native Americans don't apply because in that case we whites we were going to stay and live here permanently and we simply out-numbered them. We also committed partial genocide. I'm talking about a Vietnam or Iraq type invasion, that temporary type invasion for whatever reason. Those are always doomed to fail unless the locals are a passive people. What the North Vietnamese military told McNamara twenty years after the war was something like - "Look, we had no choice but to fight. Where else could we go? But you people were just visiting and you didn't know much of anything about our country, nor did you really care. You took sides in our civil war and tried to overpower us. We weren't with the Soviets or China to begin with but you forced us to go to them for help." See what a stupid, fruitless, insane excuse for a war that was? Plus the fact that allies were so corrupt, and simply took most of our aid and arms and re-sold it on the black market, including to the other side. Sadly similar to Iraq I'm afraid which is why there is no military solution there.
