SKILLSOFT PLC (SKIL) > 9.84 +1.16 [+13.36%]

Shares of SkillSoft PLC rose Friday after the educational software company's fourth-quarter profit more than quadrupled on higher sales and tax benefits. BMO Capital Markets analyst Jeffrey Silber says a potential recession didn't stop the Nashua, N.H.-based company's customers from spending. He rates shares as "Market Perform" and has an $11 price target. Silber says the results show SkillSoft's products and long-term contracts have strength. He now expects fiscal 2009 earnings of 33 cents per share, in line with the consensus estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial.
