Wharf, survival of peak oil covers a lot of ground and would change your thread quite a bit, I think. What to invest in, self defense, tasty squirrel recipes, etc...these are different fare from what folks generally post. Perhaps both types of posts could be accomodated; I find the current post info also to be informative, though less specific to an individual/community's needs.

I will start off a bit by saying that I think that SF writers have tackled post apocalyptic, if not peak oil themes, specifically, in interesting ways over the years. An old but grand daddy of them all is "Earth Abides", about a plague, by George Stewart, a great book that won both authors' and readers' awards, perhaps the only book to do that. Another realistic book is "Lucifer's Hammer" by Larry Niven, about an asteroid strike, that addresses very real problems for any long term disaster and some solutions the protagonists come up with. The scientist with insulin-dependent diabetes does not make it long term, though, as an example.

Anyway, be happy to hear your thoughts. It's your thread.
