Freedom works best only when the government can provide security. The moment security fails every other monster becomes visible. Very true. The most constructive function of a government is to maintain a social and legal infrastructure which would make it possible for free people and free markets to work their magic. But for this we need an enlightened government - which would accept and welcome its limitation. Regrettably, government bureaucracies have something in common with cancer - they tend to grow uncontrollably.
