Why, because Petreaus let Bush hide behind him? Petreaus is not some miracle maker. He made plenty of mistakes going back to 2002. He was in charge of training the Iraqi police and failed miserably. Only after he was given a clear mission and lots of bribe money to back it up was he successful, but then in only part of Iraq.

The whole south of Iraq is completely out of our control now.

Yes, we got tribal leaders to kick out foreign Jihadists in El Ahnbar and that's a good thing, but Iraq as a whole is still a collosal costly corrupt deadly mess.

There can be no military solution in Iraq, that is clear. So even if Petreaus were the greatest general in history he could not give Bush his imaginary "victory", no more any any general could have given Nixon his "victory" in Vietnam. Exactly the same deal.
And at the heart of the failure is lies and corruption.

You should stop repeating the Bush lie that Petreus will bring "victory" and pressure the White House to get us the hell out of there. That is how you can support t6he troops.
