tooearly;

I am not sure what you mean by "dont count it on the way up?"

The statistics that the government dishes out to the public has no provision for home ownership. So during the past couple of years when most homes have doubled in price, that measure never showed up in inflation numbers. The price of a home - if you were to go out and buy one today - would skew the inflation numbers sky high. Perhaps that is why they don't use it, but that doesn't in any way change the fact that it cost you buckets more money today to buy a house. That's inflation!

if you would learn to look for them and learn some simple history

Rather sanctimonious of you isn't it?

If housing has doubled and tripled over the past few years and now the price rise has slowed down, does that mean we are in deflation? The rise in oil has gone from 20's during this last administration to the 90's, if it falls back to 80 does that mean we are spiralling into deflation? I don't think it is and I think the rise in prices of these things is a result of a misguided fed policy coupled with a reckless federal spending and war policy under Bush. These reckless policies have led to a precipitous decline in our dollar and I believe the recklessness continues as helicopter Ben flushes more dollars upon into the American economy.

Come on, give me a list of what you are buying daily that is going down. Can't do it can you? Gold stocks don't count because most people are not buying them.
