In many cases, I'm not on the same page as Ken Schram, and have even exchanged e-mails with him, but on this one, he gets my thumb's up, 100%.

he Schrammie: Do you hear what I hear?

I've waited a week for this because I figured that the final "Schrammie" before Christmas should have some holiday significance.

And so it is that I invite Congressman James Adelbert McDermott to quit shoveling reindeer droppings and come on down.

Hark, James Adelbert is the only member of our state's congressional delegation for whom the 'herald angels' do not sing.

He voted against Christmas.

It was one of those symbolic resolutions frequently brought up in the U.S. House of Representatives.

But James Adelbert saw something far more nefarious.

He saw Republicans trying to divert attention away from the president's veto of a children's health insurance measure.

To hear him tell it, he was not about to fall for this 'deck the halls' ruse and did the only thing he felt he could do.

That is how James Adelbert came to vote against recognizing Christmas.

And while there appears to be no truth to the rumor that he cast his vote with a hearty "Bah Humbug," I'd like to ask James Adelbert: "Said the little lamb to the shepard boy, do you hear what I hear…?"

If not, listen closely James Adelbert, because this "Schrammie" is for you.

We are all mutts. Blending of families makes us so.

When I was doing our family tree, I found we are decidedly more Irish than Cajun if you look how much is deluted and we have some very oddly named people too.

....and Mutts are the VERY Best!

Agreed! My pastor was given a pup last year. He's a terrier mix and is the cutest little guy you could imagine. Last week he fell down a flight of icy steps coming out of their house and tore a tendon in his hind leg. They had to surgically repair it Tuesday to the tune of $1500. Now they're looking forward to at least of month of therapy once the cast comes off. This is gonna turn into one very expensive mutt.

The doggie quotes were all such fun to read.

Thank you for the congrats. Not reached our sixty years yet, have known each other that long, three years to go. Yes it has been mostly fun times but the also less than fun times popped in along the way too. I don't believe there is any such thing as a perfect marriage. Just don't believe it. Might be a good one, but surely takes a lot of cooperation between partners to accomplish it.

We rarely want to travel on holidays these days as the highways are so horrific and the airports too. Just don't like being in crowded places any longer. My husband travels so much during the year, he prefers the comforts of being home on holidays.

Our whole family will spend Christmas together at our youngest son and wife's home this year. We remain so thankful all of our children live close to us and have been so helpful to us since I had a health failure. Taking a longer time than I thought and still fighting some fatigue. Doctor tells me it is expected with four surgeries in two years and give it more time than I have. I think it has been way too long and probably the only thing I have no patience about.

Just started a book by Roger Caras' called Treasury of Great Cat Stories. I love cats. Have raised many dogs but cats are so much easier for me and our yard is no longer suitable for dogs.
