Yup, there are some real peaches in the teaching profession. My guess is they're wildly outnumbered by drones, most of whom don't follow the lead of their betters. Under a better system, your nephew should receive superior monetary rewards commensurate with his contributions.

I've encountered too many kids who can't read, write or cipher worth a damn. More insidiously, knowledge of history and civics seems sorely lacking. I have three step grandkids convinced that "democracy" is a wondrous thing; therefore, anything the government does is in the general best interest.

Your nephew is an exceptional teacher. He should be richly rewarded. Unfortunately, he is a nail that will be hammered down by the government school system.

he teaches math.. his love. he gave up a great corp engineering job to teach.

That is precisely the kind of teacher we need, and what we should require. Get people who are successful in their own fields and teach them to teach.
