The people of former Soviet Union didn't need Reagan to end communism. Both Reagan and Carter presided over the gradual fall and helped it along, but it was the people over there and the heroic Gorbys and Valesa type leaders who risked their life who deserve credit. Other groups that helped bring down the Soviets were the Osama Bin laden types in Afghanistan, the Jews and Catholic church, the West Germans offering to basically buy East Germany back, the anti-nuclear movement, the western capitalists like Armand Hammer and yes even Marc Rich who showed the hidden wealth of Russia, the hippies and rock n' roll "(Living in the USSR"), and the military's knowledge that they really didn't have an arsenal that could compete with the USA's, that a lot of it was a big hoax, that half their so-called military might was outdated machinery rusting away without spare parts.

Baptists do so hate Mormons. My cousins are Born Again and at one family reunion they couldn't stop talking about how evil Mormons are. I thought it was weird. They seemed brainwashed. As for Communism, your points should wake you up to something. Who in the US is now at war with the middleclass, spies on its citizens and wants to concentrate all power in the executive branch of government like the Stalinists did? GW Bush and company. Also my original point about McCarthy being a totalitarian un-Constitutional rightwinger who wanted the US to be a fascist type military government persecuting anyone who dares to speak out stands. That's exactly what he was. And as such he was a traitor. Any leader who tries to tell us we no longer have the right to speak out or think for ourselves in a traitor. I don't care if he's defending capitalism, fascist or what, doesn't matter. This country is for the people by the people, not for and by far rightwing bully politicians who want to fear and hate monger and play Hitler games. The GOP really has to watch it with their fascist members. You've got some really un-American extremists in your party and they seem to be given way too much credence these days. Also, remember Timothy McVeigh. The far right nut cases can be every bit as dangerous as Al Qaida.
