Once you lay out your initial hundred grand it's gonna cost you 8 thousand bucks every time you need service just to have your car shipped as you are apparently outside their 'service areas'!! (I'm under the impression you said you live in the Seattle area). In addition, they 'guarantee' those LI cells for five years. Any guess as to how much they will cost to replace <ggg>. Also, park that thing outside if you have a nice home, LI makes a very hot fire from what I read <ggg> Good luck John PS - You might as well purchase a truck and tow platform and just drive the car to the closest dealer. A couple service events will pay for the truck <gggg>... Come to think of it, what a waste of fuel! Every time a Tesla owner needs service some guy with a big fuel swilling truck will come by, pick it up, and drive it potentially hundreds of miles round trip. How green is that? <ggg> "Can I purchase a Tesla Roadster if I live outside of California? Tesla Motors will sell cars to customers who reside in the 48 contiguous United States. We will charge an $8,000 service fee to customers who live outside of our initial key markets of metropolitan Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Miami. The fee covers the cost of transporting the vehicle to a Tesla Motors service center when service is necessary. Why do you charge the Out of Service Area Fee? To ensure we can deliver superior customer service, Tesla Motors charges an $8,000 service fee to customers who live more than 100 miles from one of our initial key markets in metropolitan San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Miami. The surcharge covers dispatching a technician to an owner’s home or transporting the Tesla Roadster to the nearest Tesla Store when service is necessary during the warranty period. How long do the batteries last? The battery pack in your Tesla Roadster is expected to maintain good driving performance for about 100,000 miles or five years, whichever comes first. Lithium-ion batteries will degrade slightly over time. Our testing and modeling indicate that a typical Tesla Roadster owner who drives 50,000 miles over five years should have about 70 percent of initial performance levels available."
