Jefferson and Adams were "religiously liberal"......and also were two of the more prominent FF who made very clear their intentions about the role religion would play in the new gov't.

First neither Jefferson or Adams were responsible for the first amendment. Jefferson wasn't even in the country at the time the Constitution was drafted. The anti-Federalists withheld support for the Constitution till a bill of rights was added. The bill of rights, including the first amendment, was based on the Virginia Declaration of Rights, written by George Mason.

Second, as to "intentions about the role religion would play" let me remind you that President Adams is the one who called two national days of fasting and prayer for forgivenss of sins. I would also remind you that President Jefferson weekly attended church services held in the House of Representatives. That tells you something about their intentions which is very different from what liberals want people to know.
