look, I have an S corp and the thought of either buying a 60K cadillac escalade as a way of evading maybe 25K in taxes is something people look at here while they HOLD THEIR NOSES. Why the heck do we in CA have to subsidize these guzzler tax credits and tax breaks for oil companies with our money? No californian would have ever voted for that BS.

Its ridiculous for you to act like we have a level playing field. The reason CA wants better efficiency standards is because we want alternative choices which right now are very hard to get. The only hybrids available are from Toyota and those are oversubscribed. Detroit counts on their bought and paid for politicians to jam these guzzlers down CA throats, and this state knows it which is why we have this type of legislation.

The way you (and Bush) seem to look at this, its as if we are asking YOU to accept our fuel standards. Not so, you can do what you want in the red states. This is for the people who live here and the blue states, who buy 45% of cars sold nationally. We have every right to govern the way we want and the fact that Bush is fighting this is just an indication that they are afraid of the legislation.

Let Bush let it go through- if its so bad, as you say people will reject it and the "horrible outcome"

hahahha.
