You can't simplistically pick up the French approach, apply it here, and expect to get the same results or that there wouldn't be unforeseen consequences. Agreed. We are in the enviable position, as a late comer to the policy of universal care, to be able to pick and choose among the best elements of the other systems. The key would be to have experts do this instead of politicians... the politicians will judge based on political expedience instead of efficiency and effectiveness.
