It's a good question (about giving up). I don't know about giving up necessarily, but figuring that maybe you can beat the odds before things implode. Now at 60, I will probably see some bad times in the future. I don't have any realistic hope that small groups of individuals can do much to change events.

Just getting all of those car dealerships to to turn off gazillawatts of power at tnight, for example. No one, let alone a Republican, is going to suggest they tone it down. The dealers will say they would be robbed. Our system has too many working parts and too many interests that all will pressure weasels to meet their needs. Cheney said we are not going to change our lifestyles. Iam not trying to politicize the thread; I certainly don't think Democrats would say the hard, true words and try to make the hard, real changes, either.

And Al Gore...he won't be using a latrine or having cold showers. Enough money means you can talk the talk but not have to walk the walk. Green is for the rest of us to live and suffer through.

BTW, I think Howard Ruff is nuts and wrong most of the time. I haven't seen his latest book but his stuff is usually a contrary indicator.

Hi WR,

Thank you for posting the Todd information. He has really given this whole question of preparation more thought than just about anyone I have read. FerFal is the only other person who offers such good information. The difference with FerFAl is that he is actually living the SHTF scenario in Argentina which makes him especially credible.

However, Todd goes into great detail on preparation in the US and his information is very useful.

I wish you would have that conversation with Todd about why he is doing what he is doing as his answers would be interesting.

Some of us appear to have more of a drive to strive to survive and I wouldn't be surprised if that is what motivates Todd.

My question for him: How will he protect himself if/when the SHTF and he is sitting on top of his mountain alone with his woman? They'll have to sleep sometime and there will be desperate people looking for victims.
