how much flying do those google guys do? I have no idea personally. But your simplistic view of a polluting lifestyle is completely lost on you and probably all that agree with you.

Google, Cisco and other companies have pioneered the mobile office which means most of the workers I know here anyway are working from home half the time. I don't have a real office in my office anymore, I am at home right now and will go to work later today with a VPN. Does this "count" as contributing to cutting down emissions? Of course it does, much moreso than one individuals driving patterns but you don't look at that.

As for me I don't drive a prius, I wanted one last year and couldn't get one. I used to have a BMW 5 series in the 90s. Now I drive a BMW 323i which is half the weight of the older model. I wouldn't dream of buying an SUV but as a consultant it was a tough call due to the 6000 lb tax writeoff which would have actually cost me LESS to buy a huge gas guzzler than my car last year. Thats the kind of legislation CA is angry about, first I can't get the prius I want due to huge waiting list and then I have all these incentives to buy a boat. But anyway I bought a 323i which is a lightweight small car and with my work from home schedule I fill it up twice a month, max. It easily passes the CA smog test which many gas guzzlers cannot. So I have some work to do to improve my greenness (we want a solar roof also) but the difference is I don't sit around and prognosticate on what YOU want, I don't care what you drive, but you seem to care a great deal about how we live that is the issue. I know why, because you are scared your mcmansion lifestyle will become unaffordable if not subsidized by the blue states.

Edit- btw the key takeaway from these conversations is that it BUGS THE HELL OUT OF YOU that wealthy people want to drive Priuses. You didn't expect it and are trying to lambast it in some way.

You forgot the Google guys with their custom 757 (and super duper special permit to land/pollute at Moffett Field)....
