Does that mean that you are advocating a completely free market driven economy including for our health care industry?

Not exactly. That would be my default starting point, but I think there would possibly be certain problems (at least health care for the very poor). In an ideal world I'd start with that, and then carefully consider any suggested deviation from there.

Of course in the real world we aren't starting from there, we are starting from our current situation. Also we have to consider political issues, not just economic and other practical issues, and moral issues.

But at least I would be reluctant to endorse any net increase in how far away we are from a free market system.

More generally I don't think we are well served by any rush to "do something". I know in politics there is an often a lot of benefit in being seen to have done something, but we shouldn't change things just for the sake of change.

Even you would have to admit that government intervention causes more harm to the health care system than any meager benefits that it imparts. A totally free market driven economy motivates people to produce and achieve. A totally socialized system removes the most innovative and best producers from the system, or at least reduces their innovation and production to an average level.
