Antidepressants treat the symptoms of depression and they are supposed to be used until the depression runs its natural course which is somewhere around 6-12 months. Then why are people on these drugs for years and years? True depression by definition does not go on indefinitely.

LIG are you in the biz? I agree with few exceptions (antibiotics) drugs aren't required to do too much (be better than the placebo). Well aspirin is exactly pretty amazing. Many people are just taking drugs to counteract the side effects of the other drugs they are taking. According to the drug companies the only diseases that are important are those that they have a drug treatment on patent. Is "restless leg syndrome" really a disease?

Watching Nightline on the "Repo Bus"--taking clients around to be bank owned properties. "No where is the slightest sympathy for the person who lost their home." (paraphrased) Is that how they will try to spin this?

I noticed no one mentioned refractory patients - those who receive no benefit from drugs. Regarding psychotropics their percentage is quite high and their lives are often devastatingly miserable. They often turn to ECT which would literally cause them to break their own bones if a muscle relaxant were not administered. ECT is barbaric.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has yet to be approved
by the FDA even though it's efficacy is known throughout the western world. Separating Merck et all from their billions in drug revenues is probably stalling the FDAs approval.
